In late 2022, Amazon Data Services completed the acquisition of a 54-acre land parcel in Thane from the Kalpataru Group for Rs 1,870 crore. Situated in the Balkum area of Majiwada, the site is earmarked for the development of a hyperscale data center to expand Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure within the Mumbai region. The transaction involved a stamp duty payment of approximately Rs 130 crore, marking one of the highest-value industrial land transfers in the area.
