TI Sparkle: Metamorfosis Campus

Sparkle's Metamorfosis campus sits on Ermou street in the industrial zone of Metamorfosi, a municipality in the North Athens regional unit about 10 km north of central Athens, beside the A1 Athens-Lamia motorway. It holds two of Sparkle Greece's three Athens data centers; the third is in Koropi.

• Ownership: Mediterranean Nautilus Greece (MedNautilus), part of Telecom Italia's LanMed subsea-cable group, developed the first building. Telecom Italia took full control of MedNautilus in 2004 and later folded it into Sparkle. The local company now trades as Sparkle Greece. In April 2025 TIM agreed to sell all of Sparkle to Boost BidCo, a vehicle of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (70%) and Retelit (30%). The EU cleared the deal in April 2026, and closing awaits US approval.
• Second building: Sparkle laid the foundation stone of Metamorfosis II in January 2020 on the lot next to the original building. Its modular design has six data rooms, fitted out as demand grows. It holds LEED Gold and Uptime Institute Tier III design and constructed-facility certifications for its first two phases.
• Power: HEDNO serves the campus at medium voltage. Each building has 2N backup, MV transformers and on-site diesel generators. Metamorfosis II uses Li-ion UPS batteries, evaporative free cooling and a design PUE of 1.2.
• Connectivity: The GR-IX Internet exchange has had a point of presence here since 2015. MeetMeRooms link the two buildings. Sparkle's Athens metro ring ties the campus to its Nibble and Seabone backbones and the BlueMed subsea cable.
• Customers: Sparkle Greece reports more than 150 customers, including major banks, and about 40% of the Greek colocation market.
