Data4's Milan 1 campus (MIL01) sits at Via Monzoro 101-105 on the former Italtel (ex Siemens) "Il Castelletto" industrial complex. The site straddles Cornaredo and Settimo Milanese, about 10 km west of central Milan. The Parco Agricolo Sud Milano borders it to the south. Equinix, Vantage and Microsoft operate in the same Castelletto cluster.

Land. Data4 assembled about 19 ha in four lots:

  • Campus plot: 82,710 m², bought from Release S.p.A. in 2013.
  • Verdi-Tower plot: 24,176 m², bought from Microsoft under the Castelletto 2 plan.
  • Canteen plot: 40,614 m², bought from Nabucco in December 2021.
  • Villa Cascina plot: 43,210 m², bought from Italtel in August 2022.

The redevelopment included asbestos removal and demolition of the Italtel buildings. On the Villa Cascina plot, the 18th-century Villa Litta-Modignani becomes an events venue and the Cascina becomes Data4 Italy's offices.

Ownership. DATA4 Italy S.p.A. and DATA4 Milan S.p.A. hold the campus. Both are part of Data4 Group, which Brookfield Infrastructure bought from AXA IM Alts in 2023.

Power infrastructure.

  • An on-site 132/15 kV substation with two 57 MVA transformers. Two dedicated underground 132 kV feeds supply it, from Terna's Baggio 380/132 kV station and Enel's Settimo Milanese station.
  • The first building takes 15 kV from an Enel medium-voltage substation.
  • A second, 220/20 kV substation with two 170 MVA transformers is under construction on the Villa Cascina plot. It is fed first by a provisional underground 220 kV line, then by two new 220 kV lines to a future Terna station to the north.
  • Buildings carry N+1 diesel generators (2,500-3,250 kVA units) with at least 72 hours of fuel, plus rooftop and facade solar. Supply is 100% renewable.

Connectivity. More than 70 carriers, dedicated MIX and TOP-IX points of presence, and access to more than 150 cloud platforms.

Certifications. ANSI/TIA-942 Rated 4, ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, 45001 and 50001, LEED, PCI DSS, and the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres.

Permitting. Data4 permitted each building individually from 2013. In December 2024 it filed a state environmental impact assessment for the full masterplan (MASE ID_VIP 13540). In February 2026 it filed single-permit (PUCD) applications for lots A-B and C-D. Data4 announced a EUR 2 billion Italy investment plan through 2030 in June 2024.
