China Mobile is investing $1.92 billion to build a data center campus in Hohhot, spanning 715,000 square meters (7.7 million square feet). The facility has 6.7 EFLOPS (6.7 billion floating-point operations per second) of computing power.
The data center's development has proceeded in phases. The initial build included 9,000 racks supporting 100,000 servers. The second phase added 15,000 racks and between 150,000 to 200,000 servers. China Mobile plans further expansion and the campus will house 18 data center buildings at full buildout.

China Mobile International Limited (CMI) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile, mainly responsible for the operation of China Mobile's international business.
