Apollo Global Management and Yondr Group have formed a strategic partnership. This week, the data center developer announced that it had agreed on a "strategic relationship partnership" in which Apollo will invest in Yondr.
Yondr, which Cathexis, a single-family investment office, owns, stated that Apollo's investment would strengthen its strategic growth strategy and facilitate the continued expansion of its portfolio. Apollo's own announcement characterized the transaction as a "significant capital commitment," although the transaction terms were not disclosed. As part of a long-term partnership, Apollo will provide "advice and expertise" alongside Yondr. Simpson Thacher & Barlett LP advised the Apollo Funds on legal matters. White & Case LLP served as Yondr's legal counsel.
Since 2011, Yondr has provided more than 450MW of built capacity throughout Europe. The company, which has projects in the works in markets like Virginia, London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Indonesia, Malaysia, and several cities in India, among others, aims to put up data centers throughout five continents by 2024. In March, the corporation began constructing a data center in Bischofsheim, a suburb of Frankfurt.
Apollo stated that Yondr currently owns and runs a hyper-scale data facility in the Netherlands, with four more locations under construction in Europe and the United States anticipated to come online between 2024 and 2025 and fully leased with large, investment-grade partners.
