South African colocation and hosting firm xneelo  this week announced it has started construction on a new facility in the Samrand area of the city. Full details weren’t shared, but xneelo said the new facility will be modeled on its first Samrand data center's “proven design” while introducing “further efficiency improvements.”

“With more than two decades of hosting expertise, we know that infrastructure is the backbone of the digital economy,” said Deon de Villiers, xneelo’s CEO. “By expanding our Samrand footprint, we’re building for the future of South African businesses, ensuring they have the stability and scalability needed.”

The company operates one facility around Johannesburg in the Samrand Business Park that hosts around 300 racks. Located at 21 Landmarks Avenue, the air-cooled facility uses free cooling and cold aisle containment technology.
