Mobile operator Vodacom has launched a data center in Maputo, Mozambique. This facility, said to be the largest in the country is a carrier-neutral data center which also offers direct access to the 2Africa subsea cable, hosted in Vodacom Mozambique’s equipment room in Matola.
The launch was attended by Prime Minister Benvinda Levi. She said: “Our country now has 18 data centers, including this one from Vodacom Mozambique, which has just been inaugurated. Establishing this data center is a significant step forward in our country’s digital transformation.”
Vodafone also operates under the Vodacom name in several other African markets, including Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Nigeria, and Safaricom in Kenya and Ethiopia.
