Digital Realty Trust: iColo launches new facility in Maputo, Mozambique

Digital Realty's iColo has announced that it has launched a new data center, located in Maputo, Mozambique, namely MPM1. The campus spans 9500 sqm, with 350 sqm of rentable space, equivalent to 80 racks in the first phase of development. The company has shared that the facility will be the local landing point for critical equipment for the 2Africa cable system.

Commenting on the expansion, Ranjith Cherickel, CEO at iColo, said it is part of the company's commitment to enhancing internet connectivity in Mozambique, especially with the new high-capacity cable systems landing along the coast of Mozambique.

Jose Almeida, general manager at iColo Mozambique, added: "This new data centre is a significant milestone in the development of the internet in Mozambique, bringing high-quality, reliable colocation solutions with a longstanding record of operational excellence. This highly connected campus will provide a bedrock for strong data growth in the country and on the entire African continent."
