Turk Telekom, a Turkish telecommunication company, has formed its cloud and data center businesses into a new unit. The telco launched Turk Telekom earlier in the month as a stand-alone business offering a virtual data center, backup, server, storage, and disaster recovery solutions. The state of Turkey owns the company, and it noted that the new unit has significant data sovereignty benefits. It noted that applications and data on the platform would be stored in the country.

Fatih Turkoglu, the Product and Service Management Director at Turk Telekom, said: “While it is important for corporate customers to strengthen their technology needs in their digital transformation journey in order to stand out from the competition in the global and local markets, cloud investments also play an important role in this transformation journey.”

He continued by saying: “With our high-speed internet access and large-capacity access infrastructure; In addition to a virtual server, virtual data center, and storage services, we provide backup, replication, cyber security services, and many indispensable business applications for every company on a single platform within the scope of business continuity.”

The company operates three data centers across Turkey. Two of these facilities are located in Istanbul, and the third is located in Ankara.
