€1.6B Irish Data Center Proposed in 2019 Finally Approved
A €1.6 billion data center project finally received approval on Friday, March 13, after six years of permitting hurdles and legal challenges. Art’s proposal will see the construction of a 200MW campus with six data halls each offering 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sqm) of space.
STT GDC Begins Construction on its Third Data Center Campus in Mumbai, India
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has broken ground on a new campus in Mumbai, India. Spanning 46 acres, the campus is planned to scale to 400MW of IT load, with an initial phase delivering 50MW, committing around Rs 5,000 crore ($540 million) to the project.
200-acre “Project Azalea” Data Center Approved Near Augusta, Georgia
Local authorities have approved the 200-acre ‘Project Azalea’ data center in McDuffie County, Georgia which will be worth $1 billion and generate about $25 million in annual local tax revenue. The project will include six data center buildings at 2660–2358 Randall Hunt Road in Thomson, with a planned 400MW power supply.
Blue Origin Seeks Approval for 51,600 Space Data Centers
Blue Origin, the aerospace company backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has filed for approval to support data centers in space. The project dubbed Project Sunrise could include up to 51,600 satellites in sun-synchronous orbit.
EdgeConneX Begins Construction on a New Data Center in Osaka, Japan
EdgeConneX has begun construction on a new data center outside Osaka, Japan. The company announced this week that it is developing its first 200MW, AI-ready campus in Greater Osaka which will cover 130,000 sqm (1.4 million sq ft), with the first 28 MW phase expected online by Q1 2028.
