Through a job ad, Tesla has announced that it plans to build so-called "first of its kind data centers."
In a job posting, first highlighted by Electrek, Tesla outlines it is seeking a senior engineering program manager who would be "responsible for leading the full design & engineering of Tesla data centers from concept to launch."
Further details about these first of their kind data centers have not been shared, however, blogs have suggested the company might be planning to build its own data center business; it is also working on a supercomputer, known as Dojo, which is seeing a $1 billion investment. These efforts are all part of its move to manage the information collected from its self-driving software.
Last year, Musk-owned Twitter (now X) stopped using the data center it was leasing in Sacramento from NTT Global Data Centres. Tesla has now taken over this facility, having purchased it along with additional space in June and, further to this, is reportedly looking to acquire data centers from Twitter.
