Switch will acquire Data Foundry for $420m in an all-cash transaction. The acquisition is expected to close by mid-2021 if it meets all customary closing conditions. Data Foundry has three highly connected data centers in Austin with an expansion capability of up to 44 MW. It also has one data center in Houston with expansion capabilities of 18 MW at full buildout.
Interestingly, this acquisition will also add over 400 logos to Switch’s customer list. Also, acquiring Data Foundry allows Switch to expand into the Texas market, a rapidly growing technology hub. The Texas region is a fifth "PRIME" market for Switch. The other Switch PRIMES are located in Las Vegas, Reno, Grand Rapids, and Atlanta.
