STTGDC has secured a JPY93 billion green loan to fit out the two buildings at its 70.8MW data center campus in Inzai City, nsttelemediagdc.comFeatured: Wide architectural rendering and perspective view of STT GDC's Tokyo data center facility.ear Tokyo. The facility is worth about US$589.9 million, STTGDC said on Oct. 27.

STTGDC develops, owns and operates both buildings. The company calls them TYO1 and TYO2, and Baxtel tracks them as STT Tokyo 1 and STT Tokyo 2. Standard Chartered acted as lead coordinator of the financing, alongside Mizuho Bank, OCBC, Société Générale and UOB. Standard Chartered and Société Générale also served as green loan coordinators. STTGDC did not name a customer for either building and says the campus will serve hyperscalers, cloud service providers and enterprises.

The facility was structured under the Green Loan Principles and links the debt to environmental eligibility criteria. Both buildings must attain an agreed green building certification and achieve a design power usage effectiveness ratio of 1.3 or below. ETDatacenters put the loan at US$590 million.

TYO1 is already operating, while TYO2 is being developed for AI computing workloads, The Edge reported. TYO1 achieved LEED Gold certification in August, is designed for an annualised PUE below 1.25 and uses a closed-loop cooling system designed to consume no water during normal operations. STTGDC says the building has held carbon-neutral operations for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since it began operating and holds ISO 22301, ISO 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000 certification.

TYO2 is designed for high-density AI and accelerated computing, with provision for liquid cooling to be installed later. The second building is targeting TIA-942-C Design Certification and LEED Gold.

"This financing reflects the strength of our Japan platform and the confidence of our banking partners in the quality and long-term potential of the Tokyo campus," said Nelson Lim, Group Chief Financial Officer at STTGDC.

The Tokyo loan follows a green facility of up to US$1.37 billion that STTGDC secured in August for its Johor campus in Malaysia. A KKR-Singtel consortium completed its acquisition of STTGDC on Sept. 2.

Baxtel tracks 141 data center sites in the Tokyo market, 21 of them under construction, and records STT Tokyo 1 at 32MW operational and STT Tokyo 2 at 38MW in construction.
