Globe Telecom announced on Tuesday that its joint venture with Ayala Corporation and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centers would increase its capacity by 5.2MW by the end of the third quarter of this year. The expansion of ST Telemedia Global Data Centers Philippines (STT GDC Philippines) incorporates the company's three existing data centers in Makati, Cavite, and Quezon City. It will exceed the capacity of most independent data centers in the area and is designed to meet immediate capacity requirements.
Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines, stated that this capacity expansion is part of STT GDC Philippines' dedication to supporting the government's efforts in delivering dependable and robust internet services to Filipinos. Malana stated that the company intended to expand operations to serve global hyperscalers and other market segments.
Globe reported that STT GDC Philippines operates five data centers with a combined IT capacity of 22MW, with over 95% of its power deriving from green energy.
