Texas: Smith County data center to get $2million renovation

Smith County, Texas is giving its data center at 200 E. Ferguson Street, Texas, the Smith County Annex a $2 million upgrade. This upgrade scheduled to begin on November 1, 2023, is expected to be completed by December 20, 2024.
The mission for this upgrade is focused on enhancing the IT infrastructure, expanding electronic access to the county’s services and information, providing management of data security, integrity, and disaster recovery, and business continuity services.
The renovation project covers the removal and replacement of generators at the site, the pad, and the enclosure, while internal work will see the existing office space renovated into a new, larger data center. The total size of this upgrade is listed as 1,500 square feet and is to be covered by public funds.
The Smith County website notes that the Department of Information Technology is dedicated to "contributing to an efficient and productive county government utilizing technology solutions to improve citizen access to government information and services."
