Al Moammar Information Systems (MIS) of Saudi Arabia has established a new data center subsidiary. This week, the company's board of directors announced the establishment of a wholly-owned data center business in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The subsidiary will focus on administering, operating, and marketing data centers, according to an announcement made by MIS to the Saudi Exchange. This decision is consistent with MIS's expansion strategy in the data center market. No additional information or intentions regarding MIS's data center ambitions were disclosed.

MIS was founded in 1979 in Riyadh and was the first publicly traded IT company in Saudi Arabia. The business provides managed services, security operations, advisory services, and managed IT. In 2021, the company will establish a new investment fund in partnership with Saudi Fransi Capital to construct data centers throughout Saudi Arabia. And as a consequence of the fund, the company is reportedly developing six data centers with a combined 24MW of capacity in the Kingdom.

There are 41 data centers in Saudi Arabia.
