Rostelecom's subsidiary RTK-TsOD has launched a data center in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia as well as a new mobile data processing offering for customers. RTK-TsOD is Rostelecom's IT service provider subsidiary, and the Nizhny Novgorod DC is its first data center owned and operated by this data center, spanning 3,539 sqm (38,093 sq ft).

According to the company, construction began at the end of 2023 following the signing of an agreement between the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Yegor Polyakov, and the general director of RTK-TsOD, Sergey Bochkarev. The first and second stages of the data center were launched last month.

Bochkarev said of the launch: "The Nizhny Novgorod data center is the 25th RTK-DC facility. Its opening was a new step towards the digitalization of Russian regions and our contribution to the development of urban infrastructure, modern, technological, and efficient. The second stage of the Nizhny Novgorod data processing center was completed six months ahead of schedule - for a facility with a construction cycle of 1.5-2 years, this is a significant acceleration."

Mikhail Oseevsky, president of Rostelecom, added: "Rostelecom is systematically developing a network of data centers to meet the needs of its customers. Our cloud resources serve the most important state information systems, including the State Services ecosystem. We are pleased to open our own modern and powerful data processing center in such an economically powerful region as the Nizhny Novgorod Region."
