Penzance, a real estate investment firm, has announced that it is considering a site that was previously earmarked for an auto sales facility for a data center development instead. The company has reportedly applied to rezone a plot of land, located in Chantilly in Northern Virginia, just off of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, for a 402,000-square foot (37,350 sqm) data center or a 150,000-square-foot (13,935 sqm) warehouse.
The site is well positioned, located within four miles of major power transmission lines and a handful of substations, and also sits just outside the area where Dominion Energy Inc. recently announced limited electricity supply.
Penzance is yet to comment on the development.
