The development of a large-scale data center in Prince William County, Virginia, is being proposed by developers. Developers submitted plans to have a site at 14854 Dumfries Road to the west of Dale City and the east of the Northern Virginia county be rezoned. They want to develop a 1 million square feet data center at the site. The project will be named Potomac Technology Park. The developers want the county to rezone 1.7 acres of land from A-1 – Agriculture to O(M) – Office Mid-Rise District. This is to allow the development of offices and data centers.
The filings show that Plaza Realty Management Inc is the land owner, and it is filing for alternative use. According to the company, the data center is scheduled to come online in 2025. Prince William County has seen large data centers spring up or proposed. This has made locals unhappy. Besides, there’s a study ongoing to know if the county should expand its data center overlay district.
