Patmos Plans Data Center in Independence, Missouri, Amid Moratorium Debate

Patmos is planning a new data center in Independence, Missouri. The Kansas City Star reports the company is under contract to acquire a warehouse at 2500 Little Blue Parkway for a $107 million data center conversion. Patmos began talks with owner NorthPoint in November 2025, according to VP of strategic growth Monica Brisimitzakis.

NorthPoint previously sold 398 acres in Independence to Nebius for an 800MW-plus data center campus, with construction beginning in May. The project will see Independence Power Partners reopen the Blue Valley Power Plant, targeting 1.1GW of generation by 2029. Meanwhile, the city is considering a 180-day moratorium on new data center zoning approvals following the Nebius announcement.

Brisimitzakis said Patmos’s project is already underway and would not be affected by any potential moratorium. Patmos describes itself as offering cloud and data center services “free from Big Tech censorship,” including “uncancellable hosting solutions.” The company operates four data centers across Kansas City, Dallas, and Phoenix, including a Kansas City site at the former Kansas City Star printing plant hosting Nebius.kansas_city_printing_press_-_patmos.width-358.webp
