One Nuclear Signs Binding LOI For 2.88GW Gas Plant And BESS To Power Louisiana Data Center

US energy firm One Nuclear has signed a binding LOI with a Louisiana landowner group to develop Project Cayman, featuring a 2.88GW natural gas plant and a 700MW/2.88GWh battery storage system alongside a data center. The project is planned near RiverPlex MegaPark in southern Louisiana, between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
“Project Cayman, with its 2.88GW power capacity, demonstrates that One Nuclear is committed to supporting the future economic development of one of Louisiana’s most important industrial regions,” said Richard Taylor, CEO of One Nuclear.
“The project will deliver the reliable energy needed to support new investment, create jobs, expand the local tax base and generate additional funding for community priorities and critical infrastructure.”
One Nuclear said community outreach is already underway, with public meetings planned with local parishes, government agencies, and stakeholders from September to December 2026. The company has not disclosed the data center’s capacity, timeline, or potential partners. Based in Florida, One Nuclear develops large-scale natural gas plants and plans to transition to small modular reactors (SMRs) once the technology is commercialized. It currently has development sites in Texas, New Mexico, and Washington.
