The local officials in Naas, Kildare, Ireland, have rezoned two plots of land to host data centers. Earlier this week, the Kildare County council voted to rezone these lands for data center use as an update to the Naas 2021-2027 local area plan. The two sites are said to be 91 and 106 acres, with each at the south of the Caragh Road and Jigginstown, respectively. The council says it plans to develop a district heating scheme that could use the surplus heat which data centers produce for warming businesses, buildings, etc.

The council said the lands are exclusively for data centers, and it will not consider any different use on the lands. There has been interest in the lands from big data center firms. However, no concrete proposal has been made yet.
