Japanese technology giant NTT has announced plans for a new data center outside Tokyo. NTT Data this week said that work has begun on a new data center development in the Inzai–Shiroi area of Chiba Prefecture, outside Tokyo.

The facility is being developed through NTT Global Data Centers (NTT GDC), the company’s main data center arm. Tokyo TKY12 will total 200MW across six buildings, with the first phase expected to go live in 2030. Nearby, the 50MW TKY11 site is scheduled to begin service in April 2027. Construction on an initial 24MW building at that location began in April 2025.

NTT GDC has three sites in development across Japan, including two around Osaka and Kyoto, while the wider NTT group operates numerous additional facilities across the country. In 2025, NTT also announced the acquisition of land in Tochigi and Osaka for new data center developments. The Tochigi site, north of Tokyo, could support a 100MW campus, with the first phase expected to launch in 2028.
