French firm Nation Data Center (NDC) has acquired a facility in Rennes. The company this week announced the acquisition of a data center from insurance firm Groupama. Terms of the deal were not shared.
Located in Mordelles and built in 2011, the 3,040 sqm site includes 960 sqm of IT space across four rooms. The facility currently has 720kW of installed IT capacity, with potential to expand to 1.36MW.
Nicolas Deuzé and Ludovic Planté, co-managing directors of Nation Data Center, said: “NDC Rennes 2 is intended to form, with NDC Rennes 1, a truly complementary duo of data centers. This architecture meets the growing expectations of our clients in terms of business continuity, security, and performance. The modernization of the site, with a target PUE of 1.3, illustrates our commitment to evolving existing assets towards more lean and efficient infrastructures in order to support regional growth and contribute to a sovereign and responsible transformation of the Breton digital sector.”
The company is also developing a site in Normandy, which was announced in August 2022 and is expected to launch in 2027. NDC aims to operate 15 data center sites by 2030.
The company also lists a planned site near Paris on its website. Local media have previously reported that the project is being developed in the Vélizy area of Yvelines, outside the French capital.
