Microsoft is looking to develop a new data center in Manassas, Northern Virginia. The company submitted a request to the US Army Corps of Engineers to build the MNZ01 Balls Ford Road Data Center. The project will involve Microsoft developing two three-story buildings, MNZ01 and MNZ02, on the 40-acre site. It will also develop an electric power substation, parking, internal roads, a stormwater facility, and a pump station in the same location.

The company did not reveal any other specs of the data center or the development timeline. Microsoft purchased the 46-acre site at 11314 Balls Ford Road for $29 million in 2020. It also operates many data centers in Northern Virginia. These facilities are located in Loudoun, Prince William, and Fairfax Counties.
