Infineon Partners With Skeleton Technologies On AI Data Center Power Systems

Infineon has partnered with Estonian power and storage company Skeleton Technologies to develop efficient and resilient power systems for AI data centers. Under a non-binding MoU, the companies will explore power architectures covering the grid-to-data-center chain, including Solid State Transformers for medium-voltage AC-to-high-voltage DC conversion.
"By combining Infineon’s expertise in power semiconductors with Skeleton’s innovation in supercapacitor technology and power conversion systems, we are driving the development of highly efficient and resilient power architectures that meet the demands of next-generation AI workloads," said Andreas Weisl, EVP and chief sales officer of industrial and infrastructure at Infineon.
"AI data centers need to deliver dramatically more power to increasingly dense GPU infrastructure, without allowing the power system itself to consume more space. Infineon and Skeleton Technologies are both working at the forefront of that challenge,” added Taavi Madiberk, CEO at Skeleton Technologies.
Infineon will combine its CoolSiC power semiconductors with Skeleton’s power conversion and supercapacitor technology to improve AI data center efficiency and reliability. The companies will also develop GaN-based peak-shaving systems designed to handle rapid power fluctuations, improve power density, and reduce operating costs. Founded in 2009, Skeleton has expanded into the AI data center market, recently launching a UPS and partnering with DG Matrix on 800V DC power systems. Infineon, spun out of Siemens in 1999, is expanding its data center power infrastructure work, including a recent partnership with LS Electric on DC power systems.
