Google has signed two long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) in Malaysia.

The first deal saw it ink a 21-year PPA with TotalEnergies to supply the tech giant with 20MW of solar power from the Citra Energies solar plant in the northern Kedah province.

“We’re thrilled to build on our collaboration with TotalEnergies in Malaysia. This agreement is a key part of our strategy to make meaningful investments that benefit the economies where we operate. By enabling this new clean capacity, we are supporting local growth of the electricity system hosting our infrastructure,” said Giorgio Fortunato, head of Clean Energy & Power, Asia Pacific, Google.

The second deal Google struck in Malaysia was with Japanese developer Shizen Energy, which is tied to an under-development 29.99MW solar project in Gurun, Kedah, Malaysia.

“The successful expansion of our collaboration with Google from Japan to Malaysia underscores the trusted relationship we have built and validates Shizen Energy’s capability to deliver large-scale, complex renewable energy solutions across borders. As our first utility-scale project in Malaysia, this 29.99MWac facility is a flagship for our Southeast Asia growth strategy and significantly contributes to our cumulative regional capacity. We see Malaysia as a key market and aim to continue strengthening our leadership and expanding our presence in the region,” said Kenji Kawado, CEO, Shizen International.
