Google: Google experiences widespread outage

This week, Google was down after experiencing an outage that impacted systems worldwide. As reported by DCD, this outage occurred shortly after an explosion at Google’s data center in Iowa - however, currently, it is unknown whether the two are related. 

According to Down Detector, the outage occurred at 9:39 p.m EDT and lasted for just over ten minutes.

“We’re aware of a software update issue that occurred late this afternoon Pacific Time and briefly affected availability of Google Search and Maps, and we apologize for the inconvenience,” Google said in a statement. “We worked to quickly address the issue and our services are now back online.”
