A Google-affiliated company has acquired 143 acres in Moncks Corner industrial site, Berkeley Country, where the Silicon Valley tech giant has operated a data center since 2007. Arum Composites LLC purchased this parcel, comprising five parcels across Mount Holly Commerce Park Cypress Gardens Road and Garrott Avenue, for $28.5 million.

Neither Arum nor Google, its alias, announced plans for the new site purchased on September 13, 2023, from Century Aluminum. However, Arum is known to purchase lands for other companies outside the data center industry.

The new properties, including around 10 acres of wetlands, are close to Google’s existing data center campus in Berkeley County. This site, which has operated for over a decade, has grown massively, bringing its total investment to $2.9 billion. Google has also revealed plans to develop data centers in more U.S. states, including Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, and Arizona.
