China's Galaxy Data Center (GDC) has announced that it will invest $2bn in data centers in Thailand after the “Prime Minister meets investors: Confidence in Thailand’s future” investor forum held in Thailand at the Government House’s Peace and Friendship Building.

Feng Hui, the founder of GDC, said: “By deploying GW-scale green AI data center (AIDC) technologies, integrating international green energy resources, and fostering partnerships, GDC will accelerate the development of a robust digital ecosystem in Rayong.

“Our initiatives include knowledge transfer, local talent development, and the establishment of Rayong as a premier green digital hub—creating transformative opportunities for the Thai people, the EEC, and the nation’s broader economic aspirations.”

Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Home Affairs, Phumtham Wechayachai, led the Thai delegation. Wechayachai came into power after former PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra was suspended in July following a leaked phone call between her and Cambodian President Hun Sen.
