France's competition authority raided Nvidia's French offices on September 27, 2023, as part of a general inquiry of French antitrust authorities into the cloud computing sector.

According to the Wall Street Journal, which first broke the news, the Autorité de la concurrence only said the investigation focused on a company "suspected of having implemented anticompetitive practices in the graphics cards sector."

The competition authority said on its website, "Raids do not presuppose the existence of a breach of the law, which only a full investigation into the merits of the case could establish, if appropriate."

The press release also signified that a liberty and custody judge authorized the raid on the premise that Nvidia had "implemented anticompetitive practices in the graphics cards sector." However, it notes that the raid does not "presuppose the existence of a breach of the law, which could be imputed to the company." It is still unclear if the company's supply deals or investments are also being investigated.
