Ethio telecom has announced the launch of its new Tier III-ready modular data center based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. According to the operator, the facility, located in the Gola Sefer area, is the largest in Ethiopia, capable of holding up to 800 servers.

The data center has a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.4, approximately 25 % less than a traditional data center. It is also equipped with five POD (Points of Deployment), 16 cabinets per POD, supporting ten servers per cabinet.

Speaking about the launch, the Ethiopian operator said: “The newly built data centre will firstly serve existing service provision such as mobile money and business support systems, and the extra capacity could be used for new business such as colocation and cloud service in the future.”
