The DDC leverages Djibouti’s strategic position in East Africa as the major meeting point for undersea fiber optic cable systems connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, to Africa. Collocated just meters from the new Djibouti Telecom cable landing station, the DDC offers international telecommunications carriers, mobile network operators, and content delivery network (CDN) providers an opportunity to establish gateway hub services in Africa, as well connectivity for international services to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Transocean and Regional Cable Systems

Backhaul to any cable head can be ordered directly from the DDC. The services are delivered via an ODF in the DDC facility, and the pricing includes patch cabling into the colocation rack and/or cage. All backhaul is delivered on SMF Duplex cabling with connectors based on customer requirements. The following Subsea and regional fiber optic cable systems connected to the DDC:

Djibouti Internet Exchange (DjIX)

The Djibouti Internet Exchange (DjIX) is an open and neutral peering point, and leverages the core carrier neutral DDC ecosystem and its strategic geographical location in east Africa. Each network and participating provider is treated equally and fairly. The DjIX is designed to enhance regional connectivity, Internet performance, reduce latency and costs, and enhance Internet service provider cooperation across the region.

Cable Head Access, Cross Connect, and Backhaul

All submarine cables landing at the Djibouti cable landing stations are connected to the DDC facility on diverse fiber paths. These include Backhaul to any cable head, which can be ordered directly from the DDC.

DDC Meet-Me Room:

The DDC Meet-Me Room offers carriers providing voice and data services, as well as Internet Exchange services, an economical cross connect capability. Physical connections can be accommodated via UTP or fiber optic cable between any hosted racks.
