The pipeline splits across three contracting stages, according to the company's earnings materials. Electric service agreements cover 12.2 gigawatts, construction letters of authorization cover 9.8 gigawatts, and detailed engineering covers 32.8 gigawatts. Dominion said the growth amounts to 6.3 gigawatts, or 13 percent, since the end of 2025.

"We now have more than 54GW of data center capacity in various stages of contracting, including more than 12GW of capacity contracted under electric service agreements," said Steven Ridge, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Dominion Energy, on the earnings call. "We have added more than 6GW of contracts, or 13 percent, since the end of last year."

Virginia drove the quarter. Dominion reported operating earnings of $1.14 billion, or $1.28 per share, compared with $921 million, or $1.06 per share, a year earlier. GAAP net income rose to $1.16 billion from $1.01 billion. Operating revenue increased to $5.62 billion from $4.53 billion.

Data center demand has raised the pipeline through the year. Dominion reported more than 48 gigawatts of contracted data center load as of December 2025, Baxtel reported in August, after the company's second-quarter call.

Dominion also said its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is about 85 percent complete, with 44 of 176 turbines installed, and remains on track for completion by the end of 2027.

Baxtel tracks 822 data center facilities across Virginia, operated by 117 providers and led by Amazon AWS with 169 sites. The largest is CloudHQ's LC4 at 180 megawatts.

Dominion's proposed merger with NextEra Energy is also before state regulators. The Virginia State Corporation Commission has scheduled an evidentiary hearing for Nov. 17, and commission staff have recommended rejecting the deal as proposed. State law sets a decision deadline of Jan. 11, 2027.
