Digital Realty has acquired Bulgarian data center operator Telepoint, marking the company’s entry into the Eastern European market. Through the deal, Digital Realty takes ownership of Telepoint’s two facilities in the capital, Sofia where the majority of Bulgaria’s data centers are concentrated.
Telepoint also operates a third facility in the Bulgarian town of Montana, but it's unclear if this facility is part of the deal. On its website, Telepoint says its three facilities total 9000 sqm, and 14.8MW, with capacity for some 75,235 racks. The company launched its first facility in Sofia in 2009. Sofia East launched in 2018, while the 4,000 sqm Montana location opened in 2017.
“Sofia is a thriving hub for connectivity in Southeast Europe,” said Managing Director EMEA Paula Cogan.
“This expansion strengthens and complements our interconnection platform and helps customers reach end users faster, while tapping into a market that’s growing rapidly and attracting innovation.”
Terms of the deal were not shared.
