DataBank has announced the opening of a new data center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company named the new facility SLC6. DataBank first announced SLC6 in August 2021. The 171,000 square feet (15,885 square meters) data center offers 100,000 square feet of raised flooring, with 50,000 square feet of this already available. SLC6 sits on DataBank’s 23-acre Granite Point data center campus located in Bluffdale. The data center currently offers 11MW of power, with a further 11MW to be added later.
The VP of construction at DataBank, Tony Qorri, said: “Utah is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing tech hubs in the US. The state’s prime real estate, low cost of living, and deep technology talent pool, make it an ideal location for start-ups. Additionally, its Internet speeds are among the fastest in the nation, which is attractive to start-ups as well as enterprises.”
DataBank has been busy in 2022 with the company acquiring a data center it was leasing in Denver, Colorado. It also acquired four data centers in Houston, Texas, for $670m from CyrusOne.
