DataBank has announced that it is expanding its SAN1 facility in San Diego, California. The data center is located at 12270 World Trade Drive. DataBank will be adding 3,700 square meters (40,000 square feet) of raised floor space to the facility. By so doing, SAN1 will have a total capacity of 5,575 square meters (60,000 square feet). The expansion will also see 2MW of capacity added to the facility. DataBank also plans to add an extra 4MW in the nearest future to bring the data center’s total capacity to 7.5MW.
The VP of construction at DataBank, Tony Qorri, said the company acquired the facility from Legacy Kio. He noted that the facility has always had high customer demand since then. Qorri added that with the region gaining the attention of tech companies and startups, it is important to expand to meet increased customer demands. DataBank currently operates two data centers in San Diego.
