The Innovation Summit World Tour 2021 has been underway this week, where important discussions around how to cut CO2 emissions and accelerate climate change action are being had. The annual summit launched by Schneider Electric emphasized the urgent need to "act fast" to decarbonize. According to Schneider Electric's own research, emissions need to be reduced by 30% to 50% this decade, compared to current levels.
At the summit, Schneider Electric Chairman and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire's keynote advocated "achievable pathways to net-zero set out" as per "The 2030 imperative: A race against time" report from the Schneider Electric Sustainability Research Institute.
It was highlighted that sustainable digital innovation, and smart green energy, which is being called Electricity 4.0, are the fastest ways to decarbonize everything from houses to data centers.
The new APC Smart-UP Ultra 5kW was also spotlighted and said to be designed to deliver more "power, flexibility, and intelligent monitoring" in the "smallest footprint." According to Schneider, its data center customers have reduced their carbon footprint by 37%.
