A data center in New Albany, Ohio, has been purchased by Canadian IT company Compugen. According to local property documents cited by BizJournal, Compugen Real Estate Holdings recently purchased a property in Franklin County, northeast of Columbus, at 7000 Souder Road. The former data center was constructed in 2014 and is situated next to a Stack facility on a plot of land just under 8 acres in size and around 31,200 square feet. For slightly over $5 million, the business purchased the property. A representative for New Albany stated that the site was sold in late 2022 by PCM, a direct marketing firm that had merged with Insight Enterprises in 2019. The business had two additional locations at the time in New Albany and Atlanta, Georgia, and had previously utilized it to provide colocation services.
Compugen describes itself as the largest privately-owned and controlled provider of IT solutions and services in Canada. It was established in 1981 and has its headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The company remains silent about the purchase. The company has nine offices in Canada and one in the United States, in Houston, Texas. In New Albany, companies like Google, AWS, and Meta are all building facilities. As a huge Intel chip fab facility is expected to be located nearby, a number of other companies are also aiming to construct data center parks in the vicinity.
