Cerebras Begins Construction Of 165MW Data Center In Mikkeli, Finland

Cerebras has begun construction on a 165MW data center campus in Mikkeli, Finland, with the first 50MW phase now underway. The campus is being developed with Compute Nordic Finland and will use closed-loop cooling and waste-heat recovery to supply heat to the local community.

“This partnership with Cerebras is not a speculative bet on future demand — it's a contractually committed, phased build-out that reflects exactly how much AI compute the market needs today and where that need is heading,” said Pyry Virrantaus, CEO of Compute Nordic Finland. “We are proud to build that capacity in Mikkeli, alongside a partner network of local and national organizations who are ready to deliver the project and build the workforce it requires.”

The Mikkeli campus will be built in phases, starting at 50MW before expanding to 80MW and eventually 165MW. The project is expected to attract €1 billion–€1.7 billion ($1.16bn–$1.97bn) in investment. Mikkeli is about 230km northeast of Helsinki and is emerging as a data center hub, with projects also planned by FCDC Corp, Orka Technologies, and Regant Oy. Cerebras plans to have 200MW of capacity online in Europe by the end of 2027, focusing on France and the Nordic region. It also has projects and inference clusters across the US, while working with G42 on large-scale computing deployments.

In Canada, Cerebras plans to lease capacity in Montreal, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, while also pursuing a large-scale deployment in Guyana. Cerebras recently reported $210 million in revenue but a $450.4 million net loss. Its contracted and operational data center capacity is expected to exceed 600MW by the end of 2027, with a pipeline in the gigawatts.
