Cape Verde’s new data center is set to be completed by the end of 2022; it has been announced. According to reports, the first phase of construction of the Cabo Verde Technology Park’s main building is 85 percent complete and ready for operation by 2022’s end.
The project, supported by African Development Bank, is based in Praia, Cape Verde. It is located less than 2km away from the current NOSi data center, which is also one of the facilities backed by the African Development bank.
The project report by the African Development Bank outlined that the facility will support innovation to foster “inclusive and green growth.” Further to this, it said: “The project will contribute significantly to other sectors of the country’s economy such as education, healthcare, and other services. At its core, this project entails the installation and management of cutting-edge computer storage and processing facility and the provision of knowledge resources that will facilitate the development and transformation of government processes and private sector businesses.”
A number of companies are reportedly interested in the park, including Microsoft, Unitel, Huawei, and AfriLabs.
