Blackstone Data Services has announced that it is developing a new crypto-mining data center. The new facility will be located in the Bluestone Business and Technology Park shell building in Virginia’s Tazewell County. Blackstone plans to invest up to $18 million in developing the facility. Charlie Stacy, an Eastern District Board of Supervisors Member, said: “We are pleased to welcome Blackstone Data Services to the Bluestone Technology Park. They will bring much-needed high tech, diversified job opportunities to Tazewell County and significant capital investment.”
Blackstone runs a data center hosting and crypto mining business. According to its CEO, Seth White, the company plans to partner with local businesses in the natural gas and coal industries to exploit the advantages of energy generation capabilities. Seth White said: “Our mission is to provide expert turn-key data hosting and technology services, enabling our clients to invest in new technologies without the hassle of self-hosting. Our vision is to offer a portfolio of data hosting and technology services that allow investors to easily gain access to advanced cryptocurrency technologies and to deploy these as investment instruments.”
Blackstone didn’t reveal the specifications of the development. However, reports suggest that the company is looking to develop a facility with 10-12MW capacity.
