AirTrunk is developing its second facility in Hong Kong, located in the East New Territories. The facility, AirTrunk HKG2, will offer 15 MW, spanning 11,600 sqm (124,860 sq ft), with 4,400 sqm (4,7360 sq ft) of technical space.
The facility will have a PUE of 1.25, and initial capacity is set to be delivered mid-next year. This facility accompanies HKG1, which opened in late 2020; together, the two bring AirTrunk's total data center capacity to more than 35MW in Hong Kong. The facility will be the company's 10th data center.
Speaking about the company's expansion in Hong Kong, AirTrunk deputy CEO, Michael Juniper said it's a key international business hub, with "ambitions to accelerate the development of a digital economy."
"Combined with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, there is huge demand for cloud services and the supporting critical digital infrastructure. HKG2 will play an important role in responding to this demand," Juniper said.
"The development of HKG2 will bring significant benefits to the Hong Kong economy, including the creation of new jobs, enablement of public cloud, sustainable innovation as well as community contributions," added KC Li, head of Hong Kong at AirTrunk.
