Multilateral bank Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has announced that it is making a significant investment in new data center development, with $150 million. The Beijing-based company will direct the funds through the Keppel Data Centre Fund II (KDCF II).

Current reports outline that the development of data centers will mostly serve Emerging Asia.

Donik Lee, AIIB director-general, banking department (region 1), said the partnership with KDC Fund II would help improve digital infrastructure to bridge the digital divide.

Alvin Mah, CEO of Alpha, said: "Working together with Keppel Data Centres, we are able to tap into Keppel Group's know-how in data centre operations, sustainable technology and energy-efficiency to develop better and greener data centres."

There are 25 data centers in Beijing.
