A hospital in the United Kingdom is undergoing a $494 million renovation that includes adding a data center. The House of Commons approved the reconstruction of Kettering General Hospital (KGH) in Northamptonshire. The KGH, which has occupied the same location for 126 years, will receive a $494m+ fully funded, redeveloped, improved, and extended hospital by 2030, with construction commencing in 2028.

The advancement will include a new on-site data center, but size and capacity information has not been disclosed. The government has pledged to equip hospitals with "digital connectivity" and integrated systems to enhance patient care. The site will also feature a $42 million net-zero energy facility, for which preparatory work and construction will begin in 2024. Integrated Health Projects is KGH's collaborator in construction. In addition, a highway conduit will be dug for a $4,9 million high-voltage (HV) cable connecting the nearest HV substation to KGH. Installation of the conduit will begin in January 2024, with High Voltage Systems & Services handling the work.

In 2019, the British government committed to refurbishing forty hospitals by 2030. According to the transcript of the House of Commons, this remains on schedule, despite opposition and media reports to the contrary.
