US firm 5C is planning to develop a data center in Memphis, Tennessee and has reportedly submitted pland to Shelby County late last year to turn a multi-story warehouse and office at 4300 Getwell Road into a data center that will support an initial 15MW IT load in its first phase.
A project manager with Adag Group, one of the Quebec-based firms involved in the project along with Hypertec, told permitting officers in a letter that the site would be a “transformative opportunity for the region.”
5C was launched in 2023 and is based in Montreal, Canada. 5C was recently acquired by Hypertec and merged with Hypertech’s cloud division. The move marked a return to the data center business for Hypertech after selling its old data center division. The company was founded by Steve Perez, who was previously a founding member of the Canadian firm Hypertec DCS, which was acquired by Vantage in 2020.
