The US real estate development company Oppidan has filed plans to construct a data center in Memphis, Tennessee. The company has filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for permission to build a data center at 3900 S. Mendenhall Road. The permit encompasses the construction of a 99,000-square-foot, single-story data center. The center is anticipated to become operational in 2025, according to Oppidan. Construction is also slated to begin this summer. A number of manufacturing warehouse properties have been developed by Oppidan, a Minnesota-based company. Oracle, several unnamed telcos, Bell Canada's Bell Alliant brand, and Sabey Corporation were reportedly among Oppidan's past data center clients.
The company is also engaged in an AWS project in California. It bought four plots in Santa Clara last year that will be converted into a 50MW data center at 715, 790, 795, and 805 Comstock along Harrison Street. This project's actual customer was kept a secret. Drew Johnson, Oppidan's vice president of development, stated that the company is thrilled to enter the Memphis community as it expands its mission-critical facility development across the country. Significant capital expenditures are being made by Oppidan and its project partners, resulting in increased construction activity and job creation.
