Liquid Intelligent Technologies Will Provide Zambia With a Brand-new Data Center

Apr 12, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

To accelerate the country's digital transformation, the Zambian government has partnered with Liquid Intelligent Technologies to establish a new data center. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) stating this was signed by both sides. This is a positive move since the data center will also handle the numerous requests for data hosting from small and upmarket enterprises. Enabling all Zambians with affordable connectivity as well. The MOU outlines a strategy to broaden Liquid's fiber network by connecting more municipalities nationwide. Physical infrastructure development will begin soon to make it easier for schools and clinics to connect via Liquid's network. The Liquid Group will also advise on public and private cloud services as well as cybersecurity solutions to help the Zambian government with its digital services.

On March 7, at the Fifth Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, the MOU was signed. The contract was signed by Nic Rudnick, Group Deputy Chairman of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, and Hon. Felix Mutati, Zambia's Minister of Technology and Science. Cassava Technologies' Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO, supports Zambia's attempts to modernize its economy digitally. They recognized the substantial efforts being made by the Zambian government to advance the nation's digital transformation, according to him, and they concur with President Hichilema's goal for the expansion of Zambia's digital economy. They are committed to making more investments in Zambia's digital infrastructure, given the favorable investment climate. According to recent research, with a compound annual growth rate of nearly 12%, the African data center industry will approach $3 billion by 2025. The opening of Zambia's new data center will promote development and speed up the country's digital transition.
