The Spango Valley Data Center is a major proposed digital infrastructure project being developed by Slate Island Developments Ltd on a 70-acre former IBM factory site in Greenock, Scotland.
Moving away from a previously approved 450-home residential layout, the developers have pivoted to an artificial intelligence (AI)-ready campus featuring two hyperscale data center buildings with a combined footprint of approximately 74,500 square meters. To support high-density power and grid stability, the project uses a twin-track planning approach for the data center, a co-located 99MW BESS, and a 132kV substation.
