Canadian firm Sato Technologies has signed a preliminary agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority to build a hydro-powered AI data center campus in southern Bhutan.

Powered entirely by the region's clean hydroelectricity, the proposed facility is planned to launch with an initial pilot phase followed by a substantial multi-stage expansion. Located within Bhutan's 2,500 km² economic special administrative region near the border with India, the project aims to turn Bhutan's surplus renewable energy into low-latency AI computing power for high-demand South Asian markets.
